Izu Peninsula Cycling Tour

The stunning Izu Peninsula (伊豆半島, Izu Hantō) is an area popular for its hot springs, beautiful coastlines, beaches, mild climate and scenic mountainous interior. Additionally, being located only about 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, it makes the region a popular weekend getaway. It is easy to access by several trains and what makes a trip to the region worthwhile is its easy access to Mount Fuji, which lies only about 50 kilometers to the north and can be viewed from the peninsula’s western coast.

This self-guided tour allows you to explore the beautiful coastlines of the peninsula and incredible off-bike experiences on this fully customisable. RideJapan designs and itinerary for you, so you tell us how much you want to ride and we build the tour to suit. From easy cruising around the coast exploring the coves and beaches, to tackling  the more demanding hilly interior, whatever course you choose. 

The tour includes 2 nights accomodation, most meals and provides you with your choice of Merida bike based on the type of cycling experience you are seeking. You simply arrive and collect your amazing Merida bike, turn on the GPS device and get riding. We plan it all.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Shuzenji

Shuzenji – Ride through rice fields and stunning gorges to visit ancient Shuzenji. Many interesting activities and sights in this area, including wasabi tasting and Shuzenji Temple, which dates back to 807AD.

Day 2 | Izu Skyline

Izu Skyline – Into the hills to ride the beautiful Izu Skyline Road which provides breathtaking views of Mt.Fuji.

Day 3 |

Our final day takes us within views of Mount Fuji as we snake our way around the coast before heading east. The hills loom and we face a few categorized climbs that take us through the middle of Izu and the town itself. Atami is close and after a beautiful smooth descent we arrive back on the east coast and ride the last few kilometres to Atami.
